Uniquely, Brooke’s mother studied jewelry under the famed Alma Eikerman at Indiana University. Traditions, stories, and rare objects of art from this special time were passed down to Brooke at an early age.
Ms. Eikerman started the world renowned Jewelry and Metalsmithing program at Indiana University after studying with Karl Gustav Hansen, a Danish master silversmith, considered a pioneer of Scandinavian silversmith design, as well as other notable craftsman in Stockholm, Denmark, Munich and Paris. Eikerman introduced European hollowware techniques to the United States. Modernist pieces made by Brooke’s mother informed Brooke’s aesthetic to which she expands today.
(Fun Fact: Brooke hammered on the same metalsmithing stakes as Alma, her mother, and many other notable makers, when completing her BFA at Indiana University.)
