Cygnet Jewelry was founded by Brooke Swanson. Brooke minored in Art History and earned a BFA and MFA in Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing. Having spent 20 years making and exhibiting art jewelry, with representation by the finest contemporary jewelry galleries across North America, Brooke’s work has expanded into bespoke fine jewelry. Nature remains at the forefront of her inspiration. Brooke has traveled along paths less traveled across the globe. As a life long learner, she sources ideas and materials with passion. Each piece is hand fabricated by Brooke in her studio using sheet metal and wire, architecturally compelling stones, and ancient techniques. Her work is embedded with impeccable craftsmanship and a strong sense of design. In addition to her signature work, Brooke enjoys acquiring rare vintage jewelry from across the globe from prominent auction houses in London, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles. These curated pieces serve as inspiration due to their unique provenance, craftsmanship, materials and stones. You will find a selection under SHOP JEWELRY/VINTAGE on the website. Learning from the past while forging forward remains a signature of Cygnet. Welcome to the Flock. #cygnetflock

+ - WHEN NOT AT THE BENCH

When not in the studio, you can find Brooke walking her beloved Labrador, Emmylou, while listening to conversational French. Listening to First Aid Kit, Kruangbin, searching for vintage textiles and jewelry from any era, the work of Mary Oliver, Patti Smith, and Scott Russell Sanders are close to her heart. Her husband makes killer Chinese food on his commercial wok and she hand washes a lot of dishes. Together they raise their flock of two teenage children, who are taken willingly to The Art Institute of Chicago as well as art and history museums across the globe. Close by, the shores of Lake Michigan provide respite and reflection.
